Managed by BlueLight Commercial in partnership with the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC), the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC), RISC, the Home Office and the Office of the Police Chief Scientific Adviser, the Police Industry Charter sets out a shared framework for strengthening relationships between policing and industry through transparency, collaboration and responsible innovation.
By signing the Charter, Whitespace has committed to five core principles:
- Designing products, services and systems with interoperability as a priority.
- Adopting a Maximum Transparency by Default (MTBD) approach.
- Supporting the professional development of policing practitioners and leaders.
- Supporting UK policing's sustainability objectives.
- Promoting collaboration and long-term partnership.
For Whitespace, the commitment reflects the way the company believes technology should be developed and introduced within policing: by working alongside organisations to understand real operational challenges before designing trusted AI capabilities that are secure, governed and fit for operational use.
Rather than applying technology for its own sake, Whitespace's Solutions Engineering approach focuses on identifying operational needs and developing AI capabilities that improve organisational effectiveness while maintaining transparency, accountability and human oversight.

Becoming a signatory demonstrates Whitespace's commitment to supporting the responsible adoption of technology while helping policing organisations develop trusted AI capabilities around genuine operational challenges.
As Whitespace continues to expand its work across policing, the Charter provides another foundation for building long-term partnerships based on openness, collaboration and a shared commitment to improving public service outcomes.
