Whitespace has been awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award 2026 by the UK Ministry of Defence, recognising organisations that go beyond their Armed Forces Covenant commitments to support Reservists, veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and the spouses and partners of those serving.
The award recognises employers that actively create opportunities for members of the Armed Forces community while demonstrating a sustained commitment to supporting military service alongside civilian careers.
For Whitespace, this recognition reflects more than a policy. It reflects the people, values and experience that continue to shape the company.
Supporting the Defence Community
As a company working closely with Defence and National Security organisations, Whitespace understands the unique contribution that service personnel, veterans and reservists make to both operational environments and the workplace.
Leadership, resilience, adaptability and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure are qualities developed through military service. These attributes strengthen our teams, enrich our understanding of customer challenges and help shape the sovereign AI capabilities we build for some of the world's most demanding operational environments.
Supporting the Armed Forces community is therefore not only an important commitment—it is also an important part of who we are as a business.
Building a Culture That Reflects Our Customers
Many of the organisations we work alongside operate in environments where trust, accountability and operational excellence are essential.
Maintaining close connections with the Defence community helps ensure our technology, products and ways of working continue to reflect the realities of those environments.
Whether through the experience of veterans and reservists within our team or our continued engagement across Defence and National Security, these perspectives help inform how we develop AI capabilities that support real operational needs.
A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Commenting on the award, Dan Braden-Astbury, Chief Operating Officer at Whitespace, said:
"Receiving the ERS Silver Award is an important milestone for Whitespace. We are committed to supporting members of the Armed Forces community and recognise the unique skills, experience and perspectives they bring to our organisation. This award reflects our commitment to ensuring that service personnel, veterans, reservists and military families are supported and empowered to succeed both during and beyond their service careers."
Looking Ahead
Receiving the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award marks another important step in Whitespace's ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
As the company continues to grow, we remain committed to creating an inclusive workplace where military experience is recognised, valued and supported, while continuing to develop sovereign AI capabilities that help Defence and National Security organisations solve real operational challenges.
We are honoured to stand alongside the organisations recognised this year and look forward to continuing our support for the Armed Forces community across the UK.
